Aubergine and Momoko #4: Weekend I
Momoko wasn’t gonna complain, there were few things they loved more than an abundance of free sweets. Still, it worried them. Aubergine had been doing this sort of thing ever since they became roommates. He’d spend all weekend practicing his baking skills-- as if they needed to be improved-- and stressing instead of getting some much needed relaxation.
As much as it pained them to do so, Momoko knew it was time to take a stand. Aubergine helped them so much and it was time to help him back.
“Y’know Julius and I are going on a bike ride later,” Momoko said, leaning over the counter as Aubergine mixed the dough, “Wanna come along?”
“I wouldn’t want to be a third wheel on your date.”
“Don’t worry about that. Bikes have two wheels, so it’ll all be even!”
Aubergine’s side-eye was enough to say he wasn’t in a joking mood.
“Oh come on, Aubrey! You need to get some exercise and fresh air. You spend every day cooped up at work or in the apartment. Let’s go to the park; maybe you’ll find someone nice!”
Aubergine grunted. “I don’t do romance anymore. You know that.”
“Okay, but what about a fuck buddy?”
That was what made Aubergine stop and fully put his focus on his roommate. “Those words do not sound right being said with your voice.”
Momoko grinned, holding back laughter. “I’m not wrong, though. Come on, you haven’t even met Julius yet. We can all hit the town and hang out together.”
“You’ve only gone on one date with him.”
“Yeah, but he’s fun!” Momoko shook their roommate’s shoulder. “You can bake next weekend. Let’s live life for now! See a movie, grab some coffee, catch frisbees with our teeth!”
Aubergine sighed. Not only was Momoko’s energy infectious, but he knew there was no stopping them once they got started like this. It was how they became friends in the first place.
Besides, he had to make sure they were joking about that frisbee remark.
